We’ve already told you that designer Edson Matsuo has been by our side for more than three decades. As Melissa’s creative director, he’s the name behind our models and creations. Or better put: the dreams that become reality each season.
Seeing plastic as a tool of infinite possibilities, Matsuo has led the creation of unforgettable collections and projects – or as he calls them, “provocateurs.” That’s the case for One by One, for example: the innovative project that’s won awards around the globe.
In the coming weeks is the release of Mashup, our S/S ’17 collection. It’s in this spirit of new things – have you already seen the preview going on in our virtual store? – that Matsuo tells us about three curiosities which guide the behind-the-scenes of creation.
1. In Greek, the name Melissa means "priestess who brings the nectar of life." And the néctar of life is love, happiness. The pleasure of doing something that adds to our relationships with others.
2. Melissa is what it is because of our fans. They’re not seen as mere consumers, but affecionados. Melissa is what it is because there is an Exchange, a commitment to listening – not just the good, but also things we need to improve.
3. Our designs aren’t just “technique”. They’re much more connected to the love and drive of everyone who’s a part of our big group. And it transcends the factrory, the marketing... Today, our commitment is the connection between people. We’re passed doing things for people – now we do them with people.
Got it, right? Around here, our fans are the base of everything we do. And you can make your voice heard here, in the comments. Or if you’re more into social channels: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
