The fifth biggest fashion week in the world (behind giants Paris, Milan, New York and London), is Brazilian. On the list of the most important events in the fashion world, Brazil emerges as an exponent – and a heavyweight.

São Paulo Fashion Week was created more than two decades ago by (now) creative director Paulo Borges. The initial idea? Getting local fashion and their designers internationally recognized for their creations.

And it worked. Since then, several names have already walked the catwalk. From Kate Moss to Gisele Bündchen. Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan are some of the names that have already given full coverage to the event.

We here at Melissa have also taken part in more than one edition of São Paulo Fashion Week. Both alone and (very) well accompanied.

On Monday, March 13, the Brazilian capital receives another season of fashion week. And we have some news on the way – stay tuned to our social channels to find out.

'Til then, come remember some of our best moments at SPFW.

Alexandre Herchcovitch: Flower Boot on the catwalk

This collab with over a decade of history has left us with many unforgettable moments to remember. Among them, the launch of Flower Boot in the F/W '15 season. Pre-sale started just moments after climbing onto the catwalk – which is all about the "see now, buy now" concept adopted in SPFW N43. It was such a success that even today it remains an iconic piece in the closet of every fan of Melissa.
The first fashion show that was 100% ours: Nation Collection

This was a different form of participation for Melissa in São Paulo Fashion Week. For the premiere of Nation, our F/W '14 collection, we prepared a show that was entirely ours – made up entirely of the collection's concept, which was inspired by different cultures and nations. Want to know more? Watch the video below.
And a second one, too: Eat My Melissa
To launch the S/S '15 season, we once again hit the catwalk with our Eat My Melissa collection. Playing with the world of gastronomy, we showed off our gluttony for Melissas. And the more, the merrier. Watch the full show:
Melissa + Salinas

This Rio de Janeiro brand is known for its beachwear that translates "Brazilian essence" and for its signatures on some of our models, like Hotness + Salinas and Harmonic Sandal + Salinas. In 2016, it walked the catwalk in full bossa nova style with our Beach Slide on the feet of models wearing super colorful outfits
Melissa + Vitorino Campos
Only we could do something to satisfy the fashion designer who's currently most celebrated by the specialized critique. For the launch of our collab with Vitorino CamposÍris and Pupila were among the costumes of his collection for the April 2016 SPFW show.

Known for minimalist fashion with delicate features that play with the fine line between genres, we relaunched Flox + Vitorino Campos in a second version with extended sizing in the following edition of fashion week, in October 2016. The collection will hit the international market in the next six months.
