Don’t let the future blind you from enjoying the present. >>>>>>>>> We all have those haunting thoughts of “what if I don’t succeed in what I’m passionate about?” “What if I die a nobody?” “What if I’m stuck working the same job I hate forever?” “What if I never find love?” “My clock is ticking I want kids” we worry ourselves SO MUCH about a future that doesn’t get exist, if it ever will, and we end up ultimately creating our worst nightmares for simply not living in the present enough. It’s OKAY to dream about the future, but sometimes you have to stare at the sun and face the NOW. Without the present there can BE no future! So work hard and do what you LOVE to do with those you love doing things with. It’s always so eye opening traveling internationally because you realize just how small we are in the grand scheme of things. The amount of BEAUTY and WONDER there is to see is astonishing. I think it’s hilarious how our generation gets for coming up with an original IG post and then you come to Italy or Greece and see these massive cathedrals and Palaces made of marble and stone built WITHOUT machinery, sculpted by hand and stand 100’s of feet tall and with the most INTRICATE of detail. HOW did they do it?! Now THAT is reason feel accomplished. All I’m saying is just relax, take a step back from inside your head and REALLY stop to admire the beauty of NOW and how far you’ve come, but also to admire what humans have accomplished. It’s breathtaking!
I’ve always been one of those people who never throws clothes away. . Long before ditching fast fashion became a zeitgeist phrase to put in your Instagram bio, I’ve valued my clothes as my very most prized possessions, lovingly stored them away and sold on/gave to charity only things I really didn’t want any more. I love the feeling of pulling something out of the wardrobe I haven’t worn in ages and styling it up differently. And have always hated the idea of not being able to wear something because I threw it away. . I’ve always adored buying old things, and thinking about all the adventures they have been on in a former life with a previous owner. The majority of my clothes were bought second hand – from vintage or charity shops, at car boot sales or online. And the idea of buying new, cheap clothing only to dispose of rapidly, switched out for the next conveyor belt trend, is just something I’ve always felt uncomfortable with. Don’t get me wrong, I do also buy bits from the high street (albeit often via eBay/charity shops), but I also still wear Primark dresses that I bought over 10 years ago and pretty much never condemn anything to the bin unless it’s truly unwearable! . So I’m delighted that this way of thinking about fashion is becoming more widespread and accepted. I think it’s brilliant that bloggers are moving away from excessive high street “haul” videos in place of showcasing charity shop finds, how to rewear the same garment multiple ways and embracing movements like #SecondHandSeptember and #NoNew19. . This dress is from the 1950s (looks pretty good for 70+ years old eh?), bought from a vintage store around 6/7 years ago. The shoes (Vivienne Westwood by Melissa) were the first Christmas present Phil ever got me – in December 2009. Safe to say the presents have gone down hill since then
