The Preferred Material for Shoes in the Summer 2012 International Season

Today, fashion is becoming more and more democratic and the quantity of trends that come about each season is enough to satisfy all types of tastes.

And it’s not different for fashionable shoes: Western-style boots, delicate or sporty sandals, retro shoes, super high platforms, classic platform pumps all made their presence known in the Northern hemisphere’s hot season, and with one thing in common: the use of plastic.

Present on all the runways from the biggest labels, Marc Jacobs incorporated it (and repeated the use of plastic for his summer 2012 bags for Louis Vuitton), so did Dolce & Gabbana in its beautiful collection, the sophisticated Phillip Lim and Mary Katrantzou did it as well — the latter’s version received crystal details, an embellishment that we love to wear thanks to the Melissas + J. Maskrey partnership — and even the super traditional Oscar de la Renta hopped onto the bandwagon. Together with them were also Ermanno Scervino, Emporio Armani, Richard Nicoll, Chado Ralph Rucci and Marchesa.

Which of these brands would you most like to see collaborate with Melissa?
