MELISSA MAKES HEADLINES!

After so much work, dedication, high expectations and many stressful moments, it was amazing to see that a good part of the effort into Galeria Melissa’s launch in NY was publicly acknowledged.

The New York Times called us bold, WWD — the main publication for the textile industry — did an extensive piece about the internationalization of the brand and compared Melissa to the traditional American brand Keds: “Everyone has their moment in life,” they wrote. New York magazine also featured Galeria Melissa and highlighted some of the numerous artistic collaborations that will happen at the location.

When it came to coverage on the social scene, Galeria Melissa’s opening was covered by NY Mag’s blog, Stylelist.com and Style.com, which pointed out the fact that Dita von Teese changes into Melissa flats to give her feet a rest before her shows.

The party also made fashion headlines, among them in British newspaper the Telegraph, V magazine, the much-talked-about Racked.com and Fiascoplus.com.

GALERIA MELISSA ROCKS IT IN NY!

Dita von Teese, Vanessa Hudgens, Alessandra Ambrósio, Elettra Rosselini-Weidermann (Isabella Rosselini’s daughter), Amanda Setton (Gossip Girl), Jeisa Chimimazzo, Whitney Port (The Hills), Bruna Tenório… all of these were in attendance, among other celebs, at Galeria Melissa’s grand opening in NY, in february. And a lot of them were wearing their Melissas! Alessandra Ambrósio was beautiful in her Incense Glitter, Hudgens chose the Peace model, Chimimazzo picked Talking to complete her outfit and Setton was eye-catching in her Skyscrapers.

But the guest list — put together by publicist Lorenzo Martone — didn’t stop there! We had the illustrious presence of designers Jason Wu and Marc Jacobs, besides Brazilian and international journalists who showed up in droves to document Melissa’s new international milestone.

During the party, guests checked out super-colorful installations and videos from artist Eli Sudbrack while getting a closer look at the Power of Love collection. The music was provided by DJ Harley Viera Newton, who’s cousin is Time Code collection It girl Alice Dellal.

In addition to yummy drinks that represented Brazil, brigadeiros (delicious balls of condensed milk usually rolled in chocolate sprinkles — a classic Brazilian treat!) were also made the night’s menu.

Inside the very much sought-after VIP goodie bags for guests were sandals created in partnership with Sudbrack. They were the same ones that were given out at the Power of Love launch at São Paulo Fashion Week.

  • Mix Sporty style with girlie details

sporty girlie

What exactly is “sporty style” these days?

It describes a style with feminine characteristics, and it’s been incorporated into the universe of girls who love sports but don’t necessarily reflect the stereotypes of femininity.

We suggest a renewal in the uniforms of different sports disciplines, such as tennis, ballet and track sports, adapting them to the urban, day-to-day use for those who like comfort and are in the know when it comes to fashion. We can sum up this sporty style as having simple forms, functional details, geometric cuts and contrasting textures and colors!

In the Power of Love collection, we chose the Melissa shoes that best go with this mood: the Aileron + GP and Melissa Star.

HAVE FUN WITH MELISSA GALACTIC

One of the models from the Power of Love collection featured in issue 6 of the Plastic Dreams magazine (coming soon in the US) was the pretty Galactic. The issue included a variety of editorials and spotlighted the feet of cover girl Lily Cole.

Paying homage to artisanal work, the Galactic comes with two bows — one in the same color as the shoe and another in a different shade, which lets you play around with different color combinations. The strap can also be removed. Because of the diverse looks you can create with it, the shoe’s earned the nickname “changing Melissa.”

The super versatile model is available in Melissa’s official's retailers!

GO WILD With Severine

Thais Losso has been our partner for a while. She’s behind one of Melissa’s dearest models, the Severine. Originally released in 2005, it’s inspired by actress Catherine Deneuve in the film “Belle du Jour.”

After releasing a version in polka dots, Severine + Thais Losso has returned with a model that’s like a walk through the zoo. The variations of the model are split into 1 giraffe style, 2 jaguar versions and 2 panda models. Besides the prints, the sandals come with a strap with the animal’s face on the end. So cute!

Click on +Photos and check out the animal world of pieces,  just like Severine, are inspired by creatures and promise to get lots of play this summer.
