"When I understood the idea of the project of a "walking object" in collaboration with Melissa, I thought I could create starting from the feet and not the shoes. That is way I developed a topic around an imaginary universe linked to childhood. I have always been fascinated by the Disney world and its characters and, for this reason, I have chosen to work on the silhouettes of Bambi and the ducks.
So, I used the silicone moulding technique to produce a series of flexible objects. This technique makes possible the creation of endless reproductions. At that moment I started to dream about animating these little objects by gathering them around the foot, playing with the forms, letting them go up and around the ankle and creating unexpected cuts. The little duck of my childhood, that floating in my bath, naturally found its place on the heel like a "blink" for the girls who walk with the big shoes of their mums.
The aggregation of these smooth and white objects gave me a feeling of freedom, going back to the childhood. The most important thing was the pleasure I have felt while creating these objects, by keeping in mind the work we did in class on three keywords: matter, shape and colour.
Finally, I added a little key in the shoe, like a password, a secret code to enter the world of childhood and imagination.
