Many of his pieces are intricately constructed within the underpinnings; for them to come alive on the wearer, there is a technicality, sometimes achieved by inserting balloons into a concealed pocket, sometimes by wearing a specially made padded undergarment, or even how the collar may fall as the result of an intentionally stiff fabric. His 3D mini dress from AW2007/08 collection is indicative of this.

His SS2006 Collection, shown as part of Fashion East, focused on form and movement, fabrics chosen for their texture and versatility; how they are transformed once worn, enveloping not only the wearer but the surrounding space. The finale featuring an illuminated costume modelled by Casey Spooner of Fischerspooner, totally transfixed the audience, continuing to do so in a global HSBC ad campaign, where it appeared modelled by Jade Parfitt.

His AW2005/06 Collection combined human hair with fox fur against Pied Piper-inspired, all-black silhouettes.
Regular collaborators include Katie Shillingford, Fashion Editor of Dazed & Confused who styles his shows, Judy Blame, who designs exclusive jewellery pieces for his collections as well as jewelled adornments for zips and collars, and Kopenhagen Furs.

He regularly collaborates with Self Service magazine and i-D Magazine where he is commissioned to style shoots and contribute ideas. He recently worked on a series of projects under the title `FASH-OFF` with SHOWstudio and designed a dress for Nick Knight`s Moet tribute at the end of last year.

The Fischerspooner Gareth Pugh float was a new addition to Deitch Projects annual `The Art Parade` in New York last September.
In August, Gareth has opened his first stand-alone store in Hong Kong.
